As spring blooms in Pittsburgh, excitement is in the air for the annual Pittsburgh Marathon. This year, the Oxford Athletic Club is proudly sponsoring the event, and we’re bringing something special to the table: the Oxford Athletic Club four-mile challenge. But that’s not all! We’re also partnering with the Kids of STEEL program, aiming to inspire the next generation of runners.
The Kids of STEEL program, an initiative by P3R, offers a free, award-winning training program designed to motivate kids and their families to embrace an active lifestyle. It encourages children to participate in activities equivalent to completing a full marathon between April 7 and May 3. And to top it off, participants have the option to finish their final “mile” by joining the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon on May 4, 2024.
The partnership between Oxford Athletic Club and the Kids of STEEL program isn’t just about promoting physical activity; it’s about instilling values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork in young minds. And on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, this commitment was brought to life as P3R’s team visited Oxford Athletic Club for an interactive assembly with the kids.
The atmosphere was joyful as kids participated in engaging activities, games, and stories. They learned about the importance of staying active, setting goals, and working towards them with dedication.
For Oxford Athletic Club, this collaboration represents more than just a sponsorship. It’s a way to invest in the community and nurture the future of fitness. By providing resources and support for initiatives like the Kids of STEEL program, we’re helping to shape a healthier and happier generation.
But the benefits extend beyond physical health. Running teaches valuable life lessons: resilience in the face of adversity, the joy of achievement, and community through shared experiences. Through programs like Kids of STEEL, children learn that with determination and effort, they can overcome obstacles and reach new heights.
As the Pittsburgh Marathon draws near, the excitement continues to build at the Oxford Athletic Club. From the four-mile challenge to the Kids of STEEL program, there’s something for everyone to be a part of. Whether it’s crossing the finish line or cheering from the sidelines, this event celebrates community and the power of perseverance.
We’re ready to lace up our shoes, set our sights high, and hope you’ll join us on this incredible journey. Together, we’ll run towards a brighter, healthier future – one step at a time.
