By: Brian Kridler, Director of Fitness Services and Personal Trainer at Oxford Athletic Club
September is here, the children are going back to school, the weather is changing, self-improvement is upon us. September is designated as Self-Improvement Month. Here are some ways you can celebrate Self-Improvement Month at Oxford Athletic Club
1. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone:
Try a class and/or an exercise modality you haven’t tried before. We offer over 150 hours of fitness classes a week. Your body may just thank you for it.
2. Start a Smart Goal:
think a trend is starting here, goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely.
3. Start an Exercise Routine:
It is recommended that you perform 150 minutes a week of cardiorespiratory training and perform at least 2 total body resistance training sessions.
4. Create Habits:
Do not go home after work. Bring your workout clothes with you to work as part of your morning routine.
5. Download/Create a New Playlist:
Music can make almost anything fun, even exercise!
6. Purchase New Exercise Clothes:
Check out our Pro Shop for the ultimate gym attire.
7. Track Your Progress:
Use a fitness tracker and a body composition tracker. We have some of the best technology the fitness industry has to offer. Track your fitness with our Myzone belts and let us track your body composition with our state of the art Styku 3-D Body Scanner.
8. Find a Workout Buddy:
F is for the friends who do stuff together
U is for you and me
N is for anywhere and any time at all
9. Put the Phone Down:
No quicker way to lower your exercise intensity than by checking your messages.
