Locally grown fruits and vegetables, grass-fed beef and seriously creative, all-natural flavors are a way of life for Chef Martin Thomas. Ahead of today’s restaurant trends by nearly thirty years, Chef Thomas has always had a vision of eating local, sustainable, healthy and absolutely delicious food. This is why we are very proud to announce Martin Thomas as the Executive Chef at Oxford Athletic Club. His immeasurable talents and award-winning background align with the our future perfectly, which is why this pairing is sure to quench the appetites of our Members.
When asked why he is had chosen to take this position at Oxford Athletic Club to handcraft our dining and social experience, he exclaims, “It’s an outstanding opportunity with the ability to access local agriculture. Also, the members here seems to recognize the importance of sourcing local and fresh foods. I am very excited to see what the future brings.”
After starting in the industry as a busboy, Thomas found his true calling in the kitchen and received a degree from the Culinary Institute of America. Thomas became the Executive Chef at his first restaurant in 1988 and has been an advocate for farm-to-table since then throughout his roles as the executive chef at Westmoreland Country Club and Sewickley Heights Golf Club. As a nationally recognized chef, he is committed to providing the best seasonal menus using all-natural and local ingredients. Thomas hopes that his work will highlight the importance of using sustainable ingredients, not only for the quality of the food, but their health benefits, as well.
